Dave and Jen, the first of the summer Africa team, have arrived safely in Zambia. Alas, Jen caught a wicked cold en-route and has seen little other than the inside of the very pleasant apartment we are sub-renting from a friend for the month of July. Dave has been running around being all things to all people--grocery shopping, holding initial meetings, cooking, setting up our internet connections, doing dishes etc... (finished dinner dishes past 10 p.m. last night, up at 6 a.m. this morning to call our solar water pump consultant in California before he went to bed). Needless to say we have not been able to start the blog. We decided to send along this one photo as a sneak preview. We have kept detailed notes and are committed to catching up as soon as Jen is 100%. We hope it brings you as much joy as it does us to see the Community/Medical Center under construction. IT’S REALLY HAPPENING!

PS Okay, we couldn’t resist giving you one more tidbit: Take a look at this photo taken at our hotel in Johannesburg where we stayed overnight on the way to Zambia. No, your eyes do not deceive you, IT SNOWED!!
